| Palomino Ridge 2005 Merlot California Tasting Notes: This California Merlot is young and vibrant. Aromas of berries and fresh herbs are followed by the varietal characteristics of red currant, green olives, sage and wild berries. French barrel aging contributes notes of toasty vanilla and creates the soft, supple tannins typical of Merlot. An easy drinking medium-bodied wine that you are sure to enjoy. Food Pairing: Pair this Merlot with grilled halibut, seared pork loin, or your favorite pizza - it is truly flexible. About the Winery: Palomino Ridge wines are a statement of quality, character and value. Our commitment is to create premium wines that reflect traditional winemaking methods and embody the elegant style of the Palomino. These wines are made exclusively for Signature Wines by several seasoned winemakers, from grapes sourced throughout the prime grape-growing regions of California. The vineyards are nestled between the Sacramento River Delta and the Sierra Nevada foothills. The gnarled old vines you pass along the road to the vineyards speak to the history of the region. This area has an unusual climate influenced by cooling breezes off the Sacramento Delta and is fed by two rivers that deposit sandy loam soils-rich in minerals- which give the grapes unique flavors. The combination of warm days and cool nights during ripening provides the grapes with just the right amount of acidity. Our vintners are then able to create the unique blends of Palomino Ridge. |
